Here is our pirate family costumes for Halloween. We love doing family themes together. Since I carry my little man pretty much all the time it seemed perfect that I had him be a parrot perched right next to my shoulder. It’s funny to me that we lived in Florida for four years (and we were Peter Pan for one of those years) but we were never pirates. The year that we are pirates we were living in the desert.
Did You Make Any of the Costumes?
I like to try to make some part of our costumes. The only costumes I made was the parrot. I followed the directions from the Makeit-Loveit blog. We already had a red shirt (that he wore backwards so it looked solid) and red shorts. It was really fun to make a costume.
Where Did You Take the Pirate Family Costumes?
We were living in Arizona at the time these photos were taken. I knew I wanted water in the photos since we were pirates. We debated maybe we should drive to California and rent a little row boat to take some photos. Of course was hard to find time do such a thing so I started looking up different water sources around Arizona. We hadn’t been living here very long so I didn’t know a ton of places but I would drive around and then we stumbled across here. This was taken at the Salt River in Mesa, Arizona. We actually saw wild horses here at a different time. It was the perfect backdrop and the kids had so much fun playing in the river and with all of the river rocks. Location can really enhance how your photos turn out.
